Services Farm

At Tethera we understand the importance of building a relationship based on trust between farmer and vet. That is why whatever time you call us and no matter what the job- you will always be attended to by one of our team of 7 experienced farm vets.

Our services include:

Dairy

  • Routine fertility work – our vets have vast experience in cattle fertility work, and use the market leading Easiscan ultrasound scanners to deliver this service. We also use farm management software including TotalVet- to inform discussions on our routine visits.
  • Metabolic profiling to check herd performance around the transition period.
  • 24 hour direct line to one of our farm vets- all of our vets are close to hand on call so we can get to you as fast possible when you need us most.
  • In house lab services including mastitis investigation, worm and fluke egg counts.
  • Farmer training courses- in recent years these have included our Red Tractor approved medicines meetings plus milksure, and several small group meetings on BVD as part of the BVD Stamp it Out initiative.
  • We understand that Tb testing can be stressful which is why we carry out all of our own TB testing as part of our service and commitment to our clients.
  • Dairy Herd Health plans and consultancy.
  • We have 3 BCVA Johnes accredited advisors on the team to help with all Johnes planning requirements.
  • 2 of our vets are qualified to carry out TB biosecurity visits and can offer bespoke advice on this.
  • Monthly newsletter.

Youngstock

Youngstock on farm can often be over-looked. Making some simple changes to management and infrastructure can dramatically affect future productivity of the herd, for example higher milk yields in dairy heifers or reduced incidence if pneumonia.

Our youngstock services include-

  • Regular calf health visits and investigations.
  • Routine blood sample to monitor colostrum intake.
  • Assessing colostrum bacterial counts.
  • Bespoke on farm training and protocols.
  • Assessing shed ventilation and design.
  • Thoracic lung scanning of calves to assess pneumonia.
  • Monitoring growth rates.
  • Pneumonia and scour investigations.
  • Regular meetings.
